Hello hello!
It’s almost Anime Expo time, the period for seeing old friends (and new!), sweating in the AXtreme summer heat, and piling into a Yard House booth to bunker down for four to five hours.
Legend has it if you happen to wander into room 404AB of the convention hall around 4:30pm on Friday, turn a circle counterclockwise twice, and clap thrice, you might catch a fleeting glimpse of the localizer’s cabal luring unsuspecting translators into their sinister clutches…
All that is to say I’m running a panel on how you (yes, you!) can break into the manga and light novel industry!
Unfortunately, I have yet to infiltrate the illusory cabal, so I’ve only managed to invite a handful of lovely in-house folks to serve as the panelists. Several of these charming people have hired industry hopefuls in the past and know exactly what it takes to get a foot in the door at J-Novel Club, VAST, Yen Press, and Kodansha. Please stop by to learn the behind-the-scenes secrets to hiring. Charm says to come too!
Again, that’s 4:30pm on Friday, room 404AB. :)
If you feel like a game of Where’s Waldo, you can find me in the audience of the J-Novel Club Industry panel (403AB, 10:30am Friday) and the Hell Mode: Localizing Manga and Light Novels panel (404AB, 3pm Sunday) too!
